Bangkok is Thailand's major gateway. It is a bit pricey to reach Thailand, otherwise. Most visitors arrive through Bangkok's Don Muang International Airport which is connected by daily flights to Europe, North America, Asia and Australasia aboard the world's major airlines.

Further international flights, mostly from Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Hong Kong, land on a less regular basis at the southern airports of Phuket and Hat Yai and Chiang Mai in northern Thailand. Also, charter flights from Europe and the Orient sometimes land in Bangkok, Phuket, Chiang Mai, Hat Yai and at U-Taphao for Pattaya.

If one is considering going by rail, the regular rail services link Singapore and Bangkok. Intermediary stops include Kuala Lumpur, Butterworth and major southern Thai towns. One can also enter Thailand by bus through Laos and Malaysia

Road passage to Thailand is also possible through Cambodia, Malaysia and Laos. There are three road crossings for entering Thailand. Theses are at the Thai-Malaysian border in Songkhla, Yala and Narathiwat. One can also rent his own car or truck and move around Thailand independently. There are many car rental agencies in Thailand for one who wishes to drive through the country and experience its marvelous surroundings.

Ferries cross from Satun in southern Thailand to the Malaysian island of Langkawi, while over in Narathiwat province, a vehicular ferry shuttles between Tak Bai and Pengkalan Kubur, near Kota Bharu in Malaysia's Kelantan state. It's legal for non-Thais to cross the Mekong River by ferry between Thailand and Laos.

There are also occasional cruises from Malaysia and Singapore to Phuket and Bangkok, the main operator being Star Cruises, but no scheduled services.
